Catching Up!
Hey it's been a while since my last blog post! (again lol)
So yeah, we're already nearing the end of September in 2024, and it's been a pretty busy year on my end. This summer in particular was full of stuff, but I'll give y'all the condensed version of what I was up too.
For starters, I had a good run with my caricature gigs I tend to do during the summer. This year saw some pretty successful events, along with some that didn't go as well as we'd hoped. But hey that's life, ya win some ya lose some. :P
I also attended some newer events that were pretty fun. Especially one that was cryptid/monster themed. lol
So naturally I had draw some of the creatures that turned up. :P
Overall I'm happy these events return each year and continue to bring people out for fun community stuff and give me a reason to draw silly cartoons outside of the house.
Along with that, I was also given the pleasure to do some commissioned work for a dinner theater that performed the Spongebob Musical. As someone who grew up with the sponge and now (almost religiously) consumes the never-ending memes, I was more than happy to contribute to the show. ^_^
These were just a few of the backgrounds I created for the show, and some of which I was the most happy with! I also hope to work on a project like that again someday. Better update the ol' portfolio with some of those images. ;P
And finally to cap off what else I've been up to this year, I'm happy to say I've officially made the proper steps to selling art at conventions! This is something I'd been wanting to do for many years, but due to several reasons (most of them boiling down to me not managing my time right ^^;) I was unable to. However at the start of this year I told myself it was time to break that cycle and actually take the steps forward that I needed.
I wanted to keep it all on the down-low as to not get anyone overly excited or to overwhelm myself with it all. So I attended a small local convention that occurred over the summer and made sure I prepped for that. I knew I was gonna have to start small, so it was the perfect place to test the waters.
First thing was first, I needed to gather the things I needed within my budget, which included simple prints and stickers. My cat did her very best to help, as you can see.
Here are some photos of what I was able to produce! As you can see it's not the largest setup, but it got the job done, and I was ecstatic about it all. ^_^
The convention itself had a decent turnout, and for my first time as a vendor, I think it did pretty well! I'm looking forward to doing more in the near future. I'll likely keep people updated through social media about that, when the time comes.
So yeah, so far this year has been a pretty full one for me. It's certainly felt like it anyway haha. I'll have another update coming soon on what's happening with my comics. I know they've been kinda sparse this year, but I'm currently figuring out a more consistent system/schedule for myself so that going into 2025 won't be such a mess. ^^;
Until next time y'all, take care and stay creative!
